Volunteer Roles

There are several volunteer roles at the SAX Community Fridge. If you'd like to volunteer drop us an email at SaxCommunityFridge@skc.church

Drop-In Sessions

If you like meeting people and you'd like to help out at our drop-in sessions we have the following roles:

Behind the table - help visitors choose the food they take.
Refreshment table - Assist visitors get tea and coffee, cut and distribute any cake we might have.
Setup Crew - setup and put away all the tables and posters before each sessions
Welcome desk - greet all our visitors with a cheery smile, a sweet and have a chat!

Pickup Person

We have a need for people to pickup the food from the various businesses.

We pickup from Waitrose and Tesco in Saxmundham, Harvey&Co in Rendlesham, Pump Street in Orford and Platts in Leiston.

We have a rota which is changed every month, each pickup involves going to the shop, getting the food, taking it back to the St Johns church hall, weighing and recording it and then storing it.

All this takes about 30 minutes to an hour (depending on how much we get!) excluding travel time.

Setup Crew

The Setup crew are invaluable, they are a team on drop-in sessions arrive early and setup all the tables, banners, A-Frames and in really sunny or bad weather even the gazebos!

This cheery bunch also manage the storage shed (no mean feat - if you are good at Tetris you'll be good at this!).
